International Entertainment
Competition for Accordionists

July 11-12, 2004 at the Marriott Hotel (Quincy), Boston, MA

 

These competitions are open to contestants from all countries. They are for solo accordion only. No electronics, amplification or microphones are permitted. Contestants will be judged on the basis of originality, variety, musicianship, professionalism and stage presence. There are two categories - Virtuoso Entertainment and Junior Entertainment. See specific requirements below.

Open to candidates up to 32 years of age on July 10, 2004. Entries must include candidate's photograph and a copy of his or her birth certificate.

Performance Requirements: Own choice program consisting of more than three (3) pieces of different styles and moods: Jazz, Pop, Polka, Musette, Tango, Folk, etc. Maximum playing time 15 minutes. Exceeding the maximum playing time will result in a penalty (score reduction).

ENTRY  INFORMATION
Entry accompanied by US $50 entry fee (per category) must be received by May 20, 2004. Payment must be in US Dollars (check drawn on a US bank) or use Visa or MasterCard.

Registration and selection of playing position will take place Sunday July 11, 2004 at 4.00 PM in the Marriott Hotel Lobby. Competitions will take place on Monday, July 12, 2004.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Suitable ability and compliance with the rules are required for prizes. Contestants will be scored on basis of a 100 point maximum; no monetary prize will be awarded to a candidate who scores below 90 points for first place, 85 points for second place and/or 80 points for third place. The decision of the Judges shall be final in all cases.

All entries are subject to acceptance by the AAA Executive Committee. In the case of non-acceptance, the applicant will be advised in writing of the reason(s) for entry refusal. Nonpayment of fees by the entrant will constitute reason for non-acceptance of an entry.

All cash prizes for the Vivian Vivio Stolaruk Memorial International Entertainment Competition for Accordionists have been donated by
Steve Stolaruk, in memorial tribute to the divine remembrance of his wife, Vivian Vivio Stolaruk.
The AAA Festival will run from Sunday, July 11 through Thursday, July 15, 2004. Plan to attend the concerts, workshops, contests, exhibits and other activities which will take place.
